Es una posibilidad en ciernes. Después de los hallazgos consecutivos durante los últimos años, la más que posible fundación de una ciudad romana en los alrededores de Isla Cristina cobra vida. Hace algo más de dos años se encontró junto al cruce de La Redondela unos enterramientos que presuponían un pequeño asentamiento romano, tanto en duración, como en tamaño. Pero en los últimos meses se han detectado en la ría Carreras restos de columnas romanas de un más que posible tamaño grandioso, lo que revierte en la otrora existencia de un templo importante en esta zona dedicado a un dios romano, y con ello una ciudad importante en el suroeste de la Península. No debemos olvidar que esta zona se encontraba en los límites geográficos del mundo conocido para los romanos, que veían en la zona occidental de la península un terreno propicio para establecer colonias e incitar al intelecto a divagar sobre posibles utopías, como la ya conocida Atlantis, que situaban cerca de nuestro Golfo de Cádiz.
